THE MAN WHO WOULD BE SPOCK: THE SPOCKUMENTARY
VIDEO ART | run time: 00:27:06 | 2018
an excerpt from Spockumentary
The Man Who Would Be Spock is a made for TV documentary which exposes exclusive never-before-seen content relating to formative years of Mr. Spock, a character from the TV show Star Trek. I perform as both the presenter and as a vulnerable young Mr. Spock, who is known known for his unrivaled logicality. In this video, I reimagine Spock through diary entries, as the embodiment of a logic driven angst which exists outside of the gender binary. Spockumentary is part of a larger body of work which meditates on the validity and intentions of the masculine urge to carry the project of colonialism into outer space.
This video was made with help from Cambridge Community Television. This video currently exists, as an object, as a rerun on public television.
